Mission
The District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland share responsibility for mass transit services operated by the Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority (WMATA).
DDOT shall support WMATA Board members and act as a liaison between WMATA and the District government. (DDOT Establishment Act, D.C. Code § 50-921.04).
