Ginkgo Trees
- James Graham (Deactivated)
Mission
As DDOT is responsible for permitting, planning, and maintaining the District's street tree population, each spring, DDOT sprays female gingko trees in order to halt the development of fruit from these trees, which is an inconvenience to both property owners and the District's public space. (D.C. Code §8-651.01 et seq., §50-921.01 et seq.)
Procedures & Services
Residents or property owners may choose, on a block-by-block basis, to submit a petition for the removal of a female ginkgo tree and the planting of another tree type.
