Mission
The Anacostia Waterfront Initiative (AWI) is a 30-year, $10 billion revitalization effort led by the District of Columbia government (joined by 19 regional and federal partners), that promises a clean river environment, new parks and other recreational facilities, additional job-creating commercial centers, revitalized residential neighborhoods, and multi-modal transportation options. Multiple DDOT infrastructure projects comprise the majority of work undertaken by the AWI.
