Re:        Water Street NW Safety Improvements & Cycletrack Extension

Dear Chairperson Murphy and Commissioner Palmer,

Pursuant to the “Administrative Procedure Amendment Act of 2000” D.C. LAW 13-249 (48 DCR 3491 April 20, 2001), the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is required to give a written notice of our intent (NOI) to modify traffic and/or parking requirements. This letter is being forwarded to you for the purpose of notification and solicitation of comments on our intent to implement the following in your jurisdiction:

DDOT will reconfigure Water Street from 34th St NW to the Aqueduct Bridge to add traffic calming & traffic management features, add a protected 2-way bicycle facility on the south side Water St, add temporary sidewalk facilities on the north side, add a raised pedestrian crossing, reconfigure and reduce public parking (see attached 30% plan set for details), connect bicycle and pedestrian facilities to the planned trailhead at the Aqueduct Bridge, and lower the speed limit from 20 MPH to 15 MPH. 

All comments on this subject matter must be filed in writing by July 2nd, 2021 (fifty business days after the date of this notice), with the District Department of Transportation, Transportation Operations Administration, 250 M Street, S.E. Washington, D.C. 20003.
