Highway Noise

Mission

In regards to all federal highway projects in the District of Columbia, DDOT should consider noise mitigation whenever a project-related highway traffic noise impact is expected to occur. A highway traffic noise impact is deemed to occur when predicted (design-year) noise levels either approach or exceed the applicable noise abatement criteria (NAC) or substantially increase the existing noise levels.

DDOT Noise Policy
