When to Split and When not to Split
Split when...

- A roadway feature (type) begins or ends - general rule of thumb.
- An Intersection causes a change in lane identification
- A roadway section changes because of a curb cut
- A roadway section splits off into two separate segments- split at the vertex of the line
- A one way street begins/ ends
DON'T Split when...
- Minor sidewalk configuration changes occur
- Minor changes in lane width occur
- Minor changes in lane type happen within a block
- An alleyway or driveway intersects a roadway segment
- A bus pad causes a change in roadway surface type
