Parking Day/Time Groups

Similar to Parking Types, there are a great variety of days and times which are currently installed.  While having all the detail is great, we need to have a way generalize them into distinct groupings to make analysis easier downstream.  Below is a listing of how the summaries for day and time are broken down.

For Loading Zones, there may be  5 to 6 distinct sign types which fall under the description of "Loading Zone."  Over the years, new styles are introduced and older styles are discontinued. 

How can I leverage this data?

Using the ParkingZone GIS and the ParkingGroup/ParkingDayGroup/ParkingHourGroup fields, you can do some interesting queries.

Example 1

For example, let's say you want to find all Rush Hour AM No Standing and No Parking zones. After loading the GIS onto an ArcGIS Online webmap, you can perform the following query:

• You want the query to show all parking zones that are No Standing and No Parking, so you set the PARKINGGROUP filters to "NP" and "NS"

• You want AM Rush Hour zones only, so you would set the PARKINGDAYGROUP to "Weekdays", since rush hour only occurs on weekdays and;
• You also want to set PARKINGHOURGROUP to "AM", to only select the AM zones.

Using these three fields to perform the query, you will get a map that looks like this, where the orange lines indicate all of the zones that fit the description:

Example 2

For this example, we want to find locations that have Thursday mid-day Street Sweeping restrictions. You would set the query up like this:

• Set PARKINGGROUP to "Sweeping"
• Set PARKINGDAYGROUP to "Thursday"
• Set PARKINGHOURGROUP to "Mid"
