Getting Started With Signworks Inventory

Logging In

First things first.  A user must have an account for Signworks.  Contact the Jira Service Desk to put in a ticket if you need help creating or accessing your account.  You will need it to log in here -https://signworks.azurewebsites.net/

You will need to click on the Enterprise login which will take you to the Octo login page.  Once there log in using your DDOT username and password computer login:

The Map

The app will load a map and a side panel.  The map itself can be navigated by panning, where the user clicks on the map and holds down the click, then moves the mouse to reposition the map.  The map can be zoomed in or out using the mouse wheel.  The map will show the location of all current signposts in DC.  Click on a point in the map and the support and sign information will appear in the right sidebar.

Map Controls

There are various controls in the top left-hand corner of the map which allow you to control your map and the way it looks.  They are as follows

1)  Zoom In

2) Zoom Out

3) Layer List - this control allows you to hide or show various layers on the map, for more information or to improve readability of underlying layers

4) Legend - this control explains the symbology of the visible layers

5) Basemap Gallery - allows you to change the  base layer of the map.  There are quite a few options with different information and stylings.

The Sidebar

The top section of the side panel (red background) is the support.  The bottom section contains all of the signs on that support (gray background).  The edit button  opens up a panel that allows you to edit some attributes of the support.  The same button is also available for editing signs in the right-hand side of the bottom section.  For more information, see Editing and Adding Supports and Signs.

Viewing Signs and Supports via StreetSmart or Google StreetView

Clicking the binoculars button  will open up a left panel with a StreetSmart viewer.  The viewer should be pointing in the direction of the support point you clicked on in the map and will pull up the viewer on a left-hand panel:

Red circles will highlight the location of the signposts according to the database.  Clicking on the red circles will select the point in the app, causing the Sidebar and the viewer to update.  The mouse cursor to navigate in Streetview is a green bullseye.  For more information on using this features, see Using the StreetSmart Window.  The "G" button will open Google Streetview, which gives an alternate view without the sign supports highlighted.

The Recenter Button

The button to the far right on the support panel is for recentering the map on the selected support.
