Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP)

Mission

The Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is a multi-year, fiscally constrained document that identifies transportation projects and programs that require federal funding and approval under Title 23 USC 135 and 49 USC 5304.

DDOT is the state Department of Transportation (DOT) for the District, and each state DOT is responsible for developing its own Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). DDOT is committed to servicing the public by adhering to this program and achieving an exceptional quality of life in the nation's capital through more sustainable travel practices, safer streets and outstanding access to goods and services.

FAQ: What does 'fiscally constrained' mean?

The STIP may only include projects that the District can afford with either existing revenues, or revenues that can be reasonably expected to be available.
