Gap Calibration (Euclidean Distance)

Routes with physical gaps can be calibrated using a gap calibration method that calculates Euclidean distance.

LRS Network Properties

Changing gap calibration method:

  1. Go to the LRS Network properties → Calibration tab
  2. Select "Adding Euclidean distance" and click OK.

Update Calibration Points

***The calibration update must be performed in a non-editing session (version). Otherwise, the "Apply Updates" feature will update/re-calibrate all events, which currently does not function properly in R&H with physical gaps.***

  1. Run the Update Calibration Points GP tool:

    1. After tool completes successfully, verify the measures have been re-calibrated on the network at the physical gaps.

Update Intersections

  1. Run Update Intersection Points GP tool on editor version for Route Intersections.
  2. Verify measures on Route Intersection points at physical gaps match up with Calibration Point measures.

Translate Event from LRM to LRM

This Location Referencing GP tool translates the measures (m-values) of an event from one LRM (Linear Referencing Method) to another. The output is a new event layer feature class.

***Clear date definition filter for all LRS layers in order to update measures on all records (retired included)***

Append Event Records

This final step of the process involves appending the records from the feature class output of the Translate Event from LRM to LRM tool into the R&H event feature class.

  1. Verify measures have been re-calibrated in the event feature class.
