How To Create IT Helpdesk Ticket

Step-by-step guide

  1.  From the DDOT Intranet site http:// ddot.in.dc.gov/

  2. Click on IT HELPDESK on the mid left side of the page. You will be presented with a Windows Security login.

    Login to SharePoint IT Helpdesk System with your Network credentials (hint: User name = FirstInitial + LastName. Example: wkarvee)

     

     

  3. Click New IT Helpdesk Ticket


    The form below appears. All fields with asterisk * sign are required.

     


  4. Comment : The Comment field is where you can put like a title/summary of what you want to request. For example, you need a map of Ward 1. You could simply type in the Comment field, “Map of Ward 1”.

  5. Category : Next, you will need to select a Category.

  6. Issue Description : Select the Issue Description. Contingent upon your Category selection the options in the Issue Description DropDown List will change.  Test out the different Categories and see the associated Issue Description.

  7. Task: When you have selected the correct Category and Issue Description, select a task. Again the Issue Description selection determines what you see under the Task DropDown List

     

     

  8. Additional Information: add any additional information that will help the IT person to assist you with little or no extra effort.
  9. Requester: Type your name here.
  10. Requester Email, Phone or Department are all optional but try as much as possible to provide enough information.
  11. Requester Address: Select your work address from the list. The optional fields are not required but again, provide any helpful information.
  12. Save/Cancel: Once you are satisfied click the Save button to save and submit your request or click the Cancel button to discard request.
