Mission
As DDOT is charged with providing a safe transportation system by maintaining a high quality traffic control system, including traffic signal and street lights, DDOT shall place and maintain traffic control devices on all District streets and highways as necessary to regulate, warn, or guide traffic.
Procedures & Services
Residents may request the replacement of damaged street signs by calling the Mayor's Citywide Call Center at 311, or complete a service request using 311 Online.
All Way Stop Signs
Generally, All Way Stop signs are used to address issues of traffic volume, crash rates, and delay. They are not meant to be used as solutions for basic Traffic Calming issues, such as speeding or cut-through traffic.
All Way Stop Sign FAQ
DDOT shall adopt the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) as the official standard for traffic signs, traffic signals, pavement marking, and traffic control devices. (DCMR 18-2100).
